About Us

The Daffodil Project at Mount Hope Cemetery

Daffodil Flowers begin to pop up when the dark days of winter end. They’re a symbol of spring; representing rebirth, new beginnings, and joyful life affirming presence. Peace and rest found in a bright and joyful yellow color, simple in its beauty.

Inspired by The Friends of Mount Hope, The Daffodil Project at Mount Hope Cemetery is a separate charitable organization created in 2022 to continue spreading the joy of the Spring flower.

In 2020 work began to restore one of Mount Hopes famous “kettles”, bringing its topography back to the original 1840 design.

With the kettle’s restoration completed, future projects include the addition of benches and stair railings and the continued planting of ground covers, flowering trees and rhododendrons.

With the help of volunteers over 30,000 daffodil bulbs have already been planted. Future plantings in new areas of the cemetery are being identified and planned.
