Our plan for the kettle restoration
Project scope
Glacial Kettle Restoration
The focus of our project is to restore and beautify the glacial kettles in Section G of the cemetery. Originally formed by glaciers over 5,000 years ago these kettles now serve as the final resting place for hundreds of notable Rochesterians.
Our restoration work includes:
- Pathway & hardscape reconstruction
- Monument restoration
- Building of stairs and railings
- Installation of benches
- Planting of decorative and native species

Why Daffodils?
Daffodils are an important Victorian symbol for rebirth and renewal, and as one of the first perennials to bloom each Spring, they are the most prevalent planting at our project.
Plants we are using
Daffodils being a non-native plant is not lost on us, so we are working on adding native plants throughout the project to support the cemetery ecosystem.
Future plantings will include:
- Asters
- Viburnum
- Serviceberry
- Eastern redbud
